Description:
To: Folks 1945_10_24 From: Kenney [3 page letter] Date: 10-24-1945 Phillipines [sic] Cebu, Cebu Oct. 24-45 Dear Folk’s: Have a few minutes so I thought I would drop you a few lines to let you know that I am feeling just fine and getting along OK. hoping that this short note finds all of you the same. By the way my little sister has a birthday today and I regret very much that I am unable to send her a gift so I will just send my love and many happy returns and promise to spend the next one with her and the rest of my family. =Page 2= Still no news of my going home and I doubt very much if I am started before the first of the year [sic]. I expect to be a civilian by April 46 __ [sic] and I hope before that the same as you do I would give anything to be home for xmas but it looks hopeless. If this letter finds Bob back in the Hospital [sic] please send me his address and I promise I will write to him every day regardless of what happens. This Base- Base S will be closed as of Nov. 1, 45 so I don’t =Page 3= know what is in store for me, I know I won’t go to Japan so probably Leyete [sic] or Manila as they are the only two Bases left in the South Pacific that are still in full operation, commonly known as Base K. (Leyete)- and Base X (Manila). I won’t know anything about where I am going probably until late November so don’t worry as it will mean nothing more than another boat ride to me. Well I will close for now hoping to hear from all of you soon. Please give my regards to all. Love Kenney
