Kenneth Dole to Folks
Date:
1945-11-09
Description:
To: Folks 1945_11_9 From: Kenney [4 page letter] Date: 11-9-1945 Phillipines [sic] Cebu, Cebu Nov-9-45 Dear Folks: Just a few lines to let you know that I am feeling just fine and getting along OK. hoping this finds all of you the same, I don’t as usual have a lot to say, but I wanted to drop you a few lines, still no news about going home all I hear is talk and very little action, on the part of ships for the troops now waiting to be sent home, As I have told you before this Base is now closed officialy [sic] so I don’t know how long I =Page 2= Will be here, and if I hear anything I will let you know as soon as possible, if I were in Manila I could send you a cable in 12 hrs. but I expect to be here until next month at least and maybe longer. I received a package today and it was a Jap rifle the one I sent home about 2 weeks ago, don’t know why but will find out and mail it back again I am going to send an additional one so you will have 2 on the way to you by tomorrow. I only hope they get home, they might make a good trade in on a =Page 3= good duck gun, I have some ammunition but am not allowed to send it but I hear that there is a commercial arms that will work, 250-3000 ask Boots S. he should know or Chas. Butch. that is if you came to try it out, I never fired either one of the two I am sending as they need to be cleaned but good, before they are fired I suppose Chet D. has fried [sic] them before so ask him if you need any information. Speaking of Chet D. I am sending something in this letter that I want Chet to have so please see that he gets a copy I am =Page 4= sure that he will get quite a kick from it, as he knows, it means exactly what it says and plenty more. Also tell him to drop me a line as he, if I remember right owes me a letter. Be sure to keep sending the party cards as the boys get quite a kick from then [sic] and especially one of my friends who used to play with the Chicago Bears- (pro Ball) also the papers as first class mail they come through plenty good and are really news to me. Well I will close for now. So long for now please give my regards to all. Kenney –over- [back of page 4] Please send me Bob’s new address as soon as possible as I want to write him a letter, and keep in touch with him and mom [sic]. I hope Larry Ray is not going to be drafted before I get a chance to see him and say hello to him for me. K.D.D.
