Description:
To: Folks 1945_6_29b From: Kenney [3 page letter] Date: 6-29-1945 Saturday June 29, 45 Somewhere in the Phillipines [sic] Dear Folk’s: Just a few more lines to let you know that I am feeling just fine and getting along OK. hoping this short note finds all of you the same. Received another Newsweek magazines today and they are really up to date news and everyone wants to read it because it is news from home to all, by the way the Russell paper comes through very fast also in those large envelopes as first class mail; so keep them Coming [sic] evening though it does costs a little more it is worth it’s weight in gold to me as it is news about everyone I know & especially the boys in the service. Page-2 I made myself rather homesick today, I was cleaning out my barracks bag and ran across all of my photographs of which I must have close to three hundred thanks to You [sic], they really took me back home. The best one of all is the one of Mom in the leather case with the gold frame none of the boys will believe that you are my mother as they say you cannot be over- thirty years old, and then they asked about Dad, and when I showed them it the boys they said he must be my brother, I am really fond of my parents & hope to be with -over- Page-3 You again soon. I hope Bob is feeling OK. I can just imagine how happy he must be, to be back so close to home, even though he is wounded and in the hospital, it is the best medicine he could ever have and he should recover before long, knowing that he will soon be going home to the greatest place in the world and to the swellest parents anyone ever had. Please let me know where Larry & Gloria have moved & send their address so I can drop them a line or two, I hope Norma gets a good job, and that she makes good I know she will if they just give her a chance, I do hope that one of you can be with Bob as often as possible as I know how homesick he must be. Please give him my best wishes. So Long for Now [sic] Love Kenney
