Dear Bob:
Another Saturday nite [sic] & goodness knows there’s sp much happened [sic] I’m almost afraid to think I’ve followed the news so very closely all week long- the 5th Army-10th Mt. Division & all todays news sounds very good & its possible its nearing an end, but I only wish I could be with you if only for a few minutes & know you are O.K. some how I feel I know you are & I hope my intuition of this is rite [sic] Dean Banker was one of the boys that was liberated last week by the Americans some where in Germany his Name was listed in a R.C. paper_& everyone has been calling “Wag” & everyone is Certainly [sic] happy for them- I certainly hope our news from here on are all good- we received your letter of the 12th of April. 7 I was sire glad you enjoyed your trip to Rome only wish it could have been for a longer time, & I do hope you get to go to Rome & take the two weeks of B.B- Football & track as I know you love this so & you know I’m happy when I know your & the rest of the family are Happy [sic]. N.J. is all packed & leaves on the midnite [sic] to rite [sic] for Springfield Mo. To go to a school to learn to be an operator. I really didn’t want her tpp but I guess there isn’t much else to do as it seems the work at Shep & Andy’s is too hard for her of course she had two wonderfull [sic] bosses there. Shep & Jim Thoman. N.J. thinks she’ll like this so shes [sic] going to try it at least. The clippings you sent of Stefen Williams was in the County news either last week or week before, but I didn’t notice it so was glad you sent it - & it seems everyone liked Steve.
[2]
Also the article on the Infantry was rite also a broadcast direct from Italy & Jim not sure what they call them but they run fly there planes out & get the enemy positions so to speak anyway this Pilot had been grounded due to weather conditions & he spent a week with the boys on the ground –the Inf. he told what a fine bunch of fellows they were & how hard they worked, he said the boys of the air corp do their job in a few short hours- but the boys of the Inf. spent twenty-four hours a day & that he felt the foot soldiers were due a lot more glory [sic] & he hoped in time to come they would receive their just dues. We talked to Gloria last Sat. eve & she mentioned Larry Ray was cutting his stomach & ye [sic] teeth & wasn’t feeling too good but I am sure he’ll be O.K. Daddy just came home. Donna Beck & her baby [sic] are here to see N.J. before she leaves & Bessie & Jimmie are here- Jimmies got N.J. this chance to go to school, they brought her passes over. she no doubt will write & tell you all about it-she’s really excited about going so I guess she’ll get along alrite [sic]_ I only wish I knew you were going back to school I think I’s be really happy .anyway let’s just hope its not so far away & I’m really glad you & Kenney are both as young as you are so you’ll have time to start your life as you’d wanted too even when this is all over, so try to believe in that & be as Happy as you can be where ever you are & the next time you think your going to Rome let us know a little in advance and borrow some money & we’ll send it- I was sorry you were short wile you were in Rome-so lets try & get something worked out before you go in time to do some good. Well Bob I’d better bring this to a close try & get lined out for that one fifteen train. I’ll try writing a letter tomorrow & think of some more news. So I hope you are well & receive this letter soon- glad you received some this letter soon- glad you received some of those boxes & letters- write when you’ve time. Trusting God will take care ---of you & see you home soon. Good nite & Goodbye.
Love Mom
