Dear Bob.-
Here goes for a few lines, Daddy went to Legion meeting-Bessie & I took Jake to Great Bend & Hoisington to look at five places we found one we liked pretty well _ only I think I like our place best, you see were going to be able to use gas or wood either one_ so when you get home we’ll have a good old steak fry. But do take care until then- it seems the news are rather undecided at the moment as to what those rats are planning on_ but I don’t see how they can continue but we never know. We received a v. mail you wrote the 23rd yesterday & one written the 21st today_ I’m always glad to hear from you Bob- I have a lot of boxes on the way son [sic] fudge in several of them, cheese, olives_ chilli [sic], crackers, candy-gum-ham-I’m afraid you won’t like your canned meat- it may be too much like your rations-but this Morrels ham was real good, so maybe you will like it better-write & tell me what you really like best & I’ll try sending you what keeps best that you like best-I hope by now your at a rest camp- maybe a lot could happen before you get back into the lines-& I sure hope you get to Rome, but you do be careful. I can’t image you trusting anyone there really but you know of course things are happening [gosh] in Japan. Russias [sic] severed their relations & Japans [sic] Cabinet walked out & the Allies are really taking over so anything can happen now- so they say. It seems the news from Northern Italy are[sic] a little hazey-today- I hope it means good news thos-[sic] we had a letter from Kenney today. Bob let me know if you need anything. I love to do these little

Things for you. I have a lot of ideas about sending things to you but you know I like suggestions from you too, as you know what you’d really like, listen Bob I’ve already sent you fruit cocktail- but I’ve some more I’ll send you rite[sic] away so just keep looking surely you’ll start getting some more boxes with the things you really like.
Dear Bob-
Mom decided to pack you a box so I thought I’d say “hello.” Donna and I went [to] the show so I haven’t been home so very long wasn’t bad “Something For the Boys.” Donna’s boy is really getting big. Sure is a cute little fellow.
I received your most welcomed letter this morning. Also the allotement [sic] check. They seem to be coming through okay now. I “took” Dad in a Penny game the other night. Won over seven dollars. I was $13\50 at one time but of course I let him win a little back. Just so he’d be willing to play again.

Dad just got home from Legion meeting. They’re dep debating about building a Legion House for all servicemen & ex-servicemen. They have lotz [sic] of ideas but everyone has to get their 2¢ worth in and they end up just where they started. But they’ll get things done. That’s one thing we can depend on.
The weather is pretty nice now but we had some snow a couple of days ago, however, its about all melted now.
Mom’s sure been sending a lot of boxes. Hope you get them all real soon. Well Bob, Dad is waiting to mail this
Flash: Arlene Bender is in the Wa[ces]. When I am twenty I think I’ll join. What do you think?
Bye Now-Write soon.
Love,
“Your Sis”
