To: Folks 1943_8_10 From: Kenney [3 page letter] Date: 8-10-1943 8-10-43 Tuesday Dear folk’s Well I recieved [sic] a letter from Dad & one from mom last night, but I didn’t have time to answer it, as we went on an overnight problem again, we had a war between Co. C. & Co. D. the white & blue army, we had to creep and crawl for about 150 yards and they tried to catch us, it wasn’t any fun in fact it was really tough. Bob came over tonight while we were having mail call he was really tried as he had been on a hike 2 if I remember right he went 8 miles in 1:30. and it was really hot today. Yesterday they started to put salt in our water, coffee as it is so hot here all the salt in our system sweats out so we have to drink salt water to get it back in the system and it isn’t any good, the water is bad enough let alone the salt they put in it. Mom in your letter, you siad you got Marvin Nuss’s letters. Well I am really sorry, but you know 3 a boy will ri write another boy so don’t think anything about it I promis [sic] it won’t happen again. There isn’t much I know to write about except they are about ready to call us out so we can get our shots I will write and tell you how I make out. Well keep on writing and you can send me some oranges or anything soon. Love Pvt. Kenney
