Title:
Kenneth Dole to Dad
Date:

Description:
To: Dad 1944_2_4 From: Kenney [4 page letter] Date: 2-4-1944 2-4-44 Friday Dear Dad: I received your letter, today that you wrote the lst I was very glad to hear from you, as yet I haven’t been able to go in an see verna & Lloyd, but I have handed in for a weekend pass (36 hrs.), I don’t know whether I will get it or not but I hope I do I have called them and [scratch out] talked to them, so I will let you know how I come out on my Pass. About my trip it wasn’t anything very exciting as we -over- [2] passed through all the large cities at night, we went through Chicago, K.C. – Topeka, Denver, Reno, Salt Lake city [sic], and then to Pittsburg we traveled one whole day through Kansas, but we were up along the border and there isn’t much up that way except a few small towns, the only one I remember was Clay Center Kans., you can look on the map and see where it is, we [scratch out] were suppose to go straight through from K.C. to Denver on the Union Pacific, but our Route was changed so I didn’t get to see good old Russell, Page 2 I saw a few deer in Colorado, and the mountains, and snow all the way, and that’s about all I saw. I may call you someday, about next Sunday that is if I call, so don’t be disappointed if I don’t, if I get the chance I will call you. I saw Melvin at Reynolds but he didn’t come down here with me, so [scratch out] we are not going to be together, the whether [sic] here is rain and more rain, but today it was really nice, well Dad that about all I have to say for now so write when you can. Love Kenney “over” [4] about my wrist watch I still haven’t heard anything about it, it is 32 miles from here to Oakland. I can’t tell you how long I will be here as I don’t know it [scratch out] is about the same as Reynolds, I may be here two days or 2 month’s, I don’t know. Kenney
