Title:
Kenneth Dole to Folks
Date:

Description:
To: Folk’s 1944_1_16 From: Kenney [4 page letter] Date: 1-16-1944 1-16-44 _______ Dear Folk’s: I received a letter from mom today, that she wrote the 14th, I bet Norma really hated to leave Larry Ray but that just one of those things this war has brought about, but I think it should be over in the near future and we can all be together again, I sure wish I could have seen the baby, but there wasn’t a possible chance of getting a furlough from here, and the main reason was that I had just had one, I “over” Page 2 inquired about the ten days that I had coming & found out I would not be able to get it for at least another 4 month’s [sic] so I guess it is out of the question, by the way I forgot to tell you that my ring is a perfect fit and I really like it, about my watch it still isn’t here I am still trying to find it but it seems that no one knows what could have Happened to it unless it is on the way to me, I think by your letter I should get it within the next few days, I really hope so. Page 3 About the advice on the insurance I will have that taken care of tomorrow, & also the allotment, they will probably cancel it if you didn’t fill in the papers, if they cancel it I will have my bonds raised to $18.75 so I will have a $25.00 bond saved every month, & it will give me more money to spend but, if they don’t cancel it we will just let it ride, but you do what you want to about it, as you know what is best, By the way do you know how much I have in bonds & cash in the bank, I would just like to know, if they keep sending over Page 4 the allotment, I may have enough by the time this war is over to buy a car or start me to school, at least I will have something to give me a start, tell Dad he can retire and I will run the station for him, Well there isn’t much to write about so I will close for now hoping to hear from you again soon say hello to Della & Jake & all, ps. Did Dad ever take Mrs. Ring’s gun back I borrowed? [scratch out] With Love Kenney
