Predominant Dates:1974

Extent: 0.8 Linear Feet
Arrangement: When the material arrived at the Dole Institute there seemed to be no original order, and as a result the collection was organized into “Pro-Roy” and “Pro-Dole” series. Two newsclippings appeared to have no bias either way and therefore were put into their own series. For preservation purposes, the bumper stickers were separated into their own “Memorabilia” series.

Abstract
1974 campaign material from both the Bill Roy and Bob Dole Senate campaigns. Items were collected and donated by Nancye F. Ballard.
Scope and Contents of the Materials
The Nancye Ballard Collection of 1974 Campaign Material is a small collection of literature from both the Bill Roy and Bob Dole Senate campaigns in 1974. Items include brochures, pamphlets, fliers, publications, newsclippings, and bumper stickers. The majority of this collection is from the pro-Roy perspective; however, some pro-Dole literature is present.
Collection Historical Note
The 1974 Senate campaign between Senator Bob Dole and Congressman Bill Roy was one of Dole’s hardest-fought races. This collection of materials was donated to the Dole Archives and Special Collections by Nancye F. Ballard in September 2014. She and her husband, Jim, collected everything while they volunteered for Roy’s campaign in 1974. Jim Ballard served as the yard sign chair in Douglas County.
