Collection of photographs, invitations and press releases from the years 1961 and 1962 pertaining to Senator Dole's early Congressional career. Photos depict Representative Dole, Phyllis Dole and daughter Robin Dole at various Washington functions.

Item 1: Staff Christmas Gift, 1969

Put together by Senator Dole's staff in 1969 and given the title "First Year in the Other Body or What a Way to End a Decade," scrapbook includes images of Bob Dole with other notable figures such as Richard Nixon, Strom Thurmond and George Romney. The images have been superimposed with text representing funny speech bubbles and thought clouds.

Item 1: Vietnam Prisoner of War Camp, 1971

Two scrapbooks from Senator Dole's visit to a South Vietnam Prisoner of War camp on August 20, 1971. Images show Vietnamese men partaking in various activities at the camp and Senator Dole meeting with American soldiers. The Vietnam photographs and scrapbooks are still housed together but photographs have been removed for preservation purposes. Originally they were housed with a third scrapbook, "1985 Trip to China", which was removed and rehoused for the sake of consistency and ease of use.

Item 1: Alice Stowe Scrapbook of Dole Memorabilia, 1974-1976

Personal scrapbook of Alice Stowe. Consists of clippings from various newspapers, as well as correspondence pertaining to Senator Dole in the 1970s. Correspondence includes letters addressed to Alice Stowe from such notable figures as Gerald Ford and Bob Dole, as well as letters addressed to Bob Dole from various people.

Blue "United States Senate" album personalized on the front bottom right corner with "The Honorable Robert J. Dole". Includes photocopied images of Senator Dole, Senator Dole with Elizabeth Dole and Senator Dole with other elected officials.

Wedding album of Senator Dole and Elizabeth Dole. Photos span the entire event, held on December 6, 1975, including the ceremony, family photos, and reception. Inserted in the album is a first anniversary note from Elizabeth Dole to Senator Dole.

Item 1: The Campaign Nomination and Kick-off for Senator Robert Dole, 1976

A collection of black and white photos documenting Gerald Ford and Senator Dole's 1976 campaign kick-off. Given to Dole by Ford in August 1976, the cover page includes a handwritten note from "Jerry" Ford. The photos have been removed from the scrapbook and are stored loose in the box.

Contains photocopied images from the 1976 Ford/Dole presidential campaign. The photos have been added to the Photograph Collection for preservation purposes.

Item 2: Marnie Abraham Scrapbook, 1976

Collection of photographs of Senator Dole as Vice Presidential Candidate taken at the ballroom of the William Penn Hotel in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on October 4, 1976. Photos are accompanied by messages from Marnie and William Abraham. The original scrapbook has been removed. Photographs are now housed in a folder in original order.

Series of photographs from Reagan's second inauguration ceremony in 1985. Also includes invitations and a luncheon menu.

Item 1: Trip to China, 1985

Portrays Senator and Elizabeth Dole's 1985 trip to China. Images depict a visit to a Chinese garden, as well as various events with Chinese officials. Originally housed with the Vietnam Prisoner of War Camp scrapbooks, it was removed and rehoused for the sake of consistency and ease of use.

Photographs from Senator Dole's 1985 trip to Taiwan. Photos depict Senator Dole meeting and shaking hands with various men and women, as a guest at unidentified events and touring a museum. Includes a personal note to Senator Dole from longtime Senate staff member Jo-Anne Coe dated October 30, 1985, indicating that the enclosed photo album was furnished by the Coordination Council for North American Affairs.

Item 1: Williams Post Card Album, 1986

Collection of post cards from Kansas that date back as far as the early 1900s. The majority depict scenes and images from Kansas. Other topics include Kansas politicians, agriculture and the 1976 Presidential Campaign. The post cards were gifted by Lynda and Morgan Williams on Senator Dole's 63rd birthday in 1986.

Item 1: "The Congress" Gala Premiere, 1989

Photos and brochures from the 1989 film premiere of "The Congress" at Washington's National Theatre. Brief descriptions can be found under each photograph. Notable guests include Senator Dole, Senator Robert Byrd and the film's director Ken Burns, among others.

Item 1: Happy Birthday Senator Dole, 1989

Scrapbook includes political cartoons from the 1988 GOP nomination race. Given as a birthday gift, the first two pages contain the signatures of Senator Dole's staff.

Item 1: Desert Storm, 1990

Photographs from President George H.W. Bush's November 21-22, 1990, visit to Saudi Arabia depicting President Bush, with Senator Dole and others standing at his side, addressing soldiers. On the front of the album is the seal of the President of the United States.

Item 1: Battle Creek Federal Center/ Percy Jones Hospital, 1993, 1996

Collection of photographs dated November 5, 1993, and March 14, 1996, presented to Senator Dole by the employees of the Battle Creek Federal Center (formerly the Percy Jones General Hospital) in Battle Creek, Michigan. In addition to modern photographs of the Center and its staff, the collection also includes historic World War II photographs of wounded and recovering soldiers, the grounds and its medical staff. The collection also includes five reprints of 1946 issues of "The News" and two reprints of the "P.J. Argus."

Commemorative scrapbook of the 1994 Republican Governor's Conference, which took place November 19-22, 1994, in historic Williamsburg, Virginia. Includes photographs of Republican leaders. Inserted into the scrapbook is a Thank You note from 3M President, Warren H. Vietoris, dated January 22, 1996, gifting the scrapbook to Senator Dole.

Item 1: Spirit of Kansas Naming Ceremony, 1995

Commemorative scrapbook of the B-2 Stealth Bomber "Spirit of Kansas" naming ceremony on May 13, 1995, at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kansas. Album includes photographs from the ceremony, pamphlets and inserts on the B-2 Bomber, as well as news clippings from the Wichita Eagle.

Item 1: Best Wishes from Castel D'Aiano, 1996

Photographs from 1996 taken in Castel D'Aiano, Italy, the town where Senator Dole was wounded in World War II. The majority of images document the Italian town's support for Bob Dole by showing signs and banners with the slogan "Bob Dole for President". A small number of the photos depict the plaque dedicated in his honor by the town which is located at the site where he was wounded.

Item 1: Final Day as United States Senator, 1996

Includes photographs of Senator and Elizabeth Dole on his last day as U.S. Senator, June 11, 1996. Images depict the Doles with staff, press and the public. A note on the first page from Howard O. Greene, Joyce McCluney and Steve Benza, dated July 11, 1996, wishes him luck in future endeavors. The album was presented as a gift from the Office of the Sergeant at Arms and Photographic Studio.

Collection of handwritten Welcome Home notes and Best Wishes commemorating Bob and Elizabeth Dole's return to Watergate after the 1996 Presidential Campaign. The notes are from neighbors and local Watergate businesses. Notes from businesses include photographs of the owners. The scrapbook was presented as a gift by Katherine and David Bradley.

Collection of Thank You notes and Best Wishes from attendees of the "Maryland Salutes Bob Dole" event held May 18, 1998, in Annapolis, Maryland. The event was thrown to benefit the re-election of U.S. Congressman Wayne Gilchrest.

Item 1: Kappa Sigma Fraternity Hall of Honor, 2009

Includes pictures of Senator Dole's plaque in the Kappa Sigma Hall of Honor, as well as photos of the hall itself. Dole was inducted on July 25, 2009, in San Antonio, Texas.

Item 1: Israeli Ministry of Agriculture, undated

Collection of black and white photographs depicting the construction of the Israeli National Water Carrier and Kibbutz Communal Farms near Lake Tiberias, the Judean Hills and Jezreel Valley, Israel. Captions are included giving brief descriptions of each photo.

Item 1: Petition Letter of Taiwanese Citizens and Elected Representatives, undated

The majority of the scrapbook, circa 1995, is composed of photographs of banners bearing Taiwanese signatures. It also contains a copy in English and Chinese of the petition letter initiated by the Alliance for Taiwan's Sovereignty and Taiwan's Legislator Huang, Huang-Hsiung. A list of organizations belonging to the Alliance is also included in the scrapbook.
