Date:
1945-10-20
Description:
To: Folks 1945_10_20 From: Kenney [3 page letter] Date: 10-20-1945 Phillipines [sic] Cebu, Cebu Oct. 20-45 Dear Folk’s: Just a few lines to let you know that I am feeling just fine and getting along OK. hoping that this finds all of you the same. I don’t know what has happened to the mail it seems to be rather slow, although I receive my home town paper in very good time today I got the News [sic] dated the 11th/ which is really news from home; I was very happy as also I received my watch and thanks a Page 2 million for having it fixed for me so far it runs perfect and also for the soap and powder I was out and couldn’t get any so your package again arrived exactly on time. I don’t know any more about going home however the boys who left here a month ago to go home are still at Leyete [sic] and also 16,000 others who are waiting to go home from there all these men have 85 to 115 points and they just don’t have any ships to take care of them so I don’t expect to =Page 3= get a chance to go from here for at least 3 more months as I don’t have enough pts. I am on my 20th/ month over here and still boys with 38 to 40 mo. so I can’t complain the problem is there is no transportation to get the boys back so we will all just have to wait until one comes along that isn’t loaded. Well I will close for now. Take care of yourself Bob and keep on your feet as much as possible and I will be ther [sic] before you know it. Love Kenney [back of page 3] Request: if [sic] you can get a pair of low cut shoes I would like to have You [sic] send them to me so I can wear them home by the time they get here I should be about ready the over [sic]I have in this picture I borrowed from one of the boys. Size 9 ½ c KDD.
