Title:
Kenneth Dole to Dad and Whoever else might be at home
Date:
1945-08-12
Description:
To: Dad & whoever else might be at home 1945_8_12 From: Kenney [2 page letter] Date: 8-12-1945 Phillipines [sic] August-12-45 Sunday-2300 hrs. Dear Dad & whoever else might be at home: I can’t quite keep touch of my family one day Gloria & Larry are in N.M. and the next letter in Nebraska and then to Kans. [sic] and I know mom [sic] is with Bob so I have quite a time just wondering where you will turn up next [sic] I just finished another letter to Bob and I do hope that he is getting along OK. and is about ready to come home at least for a few days and maybe for quite sometime, I was vey [sic] proud to hear that he was awarded the Bronze star, as it is something that everyone doesn’t wear, however we know what he must have gone through to receive it, I like to think of my brother as a hero but I don’t think Bob would like to be reminded of it and I know you will also understand what I am trying to say in so many words, as I myself would the like to forget a few things forever that I have seen. =Page 2= By the way I received 4 more packages mailed in March and 1 in April, and was surprised to find everything in such wonderful condition, this was sox [sic], cheese, crackers, olives, pickles, miracle whip [sic] gum, candy, cookies which were especially delicious and all the boys send their thanks and appreciation to mom [sic] for thinking of me and they say when she sends a package they can hardly wait themselves until it reaches me, there is one thing I would like for you to send to me and that is come old spice after shaving lotion (oh yes I shave now like a big boy” [sic] I haven’t seen any of it since I left home and maybe you can’t buy it but if you can I would appreciat [sic] you sending me some. Well that is just about all I have to say and I really haven’t said to [sic] much, so please give my best regards to all & I will try to do better on my letter writing. So Long & Goodnight Love Kenney [side note] Dean K. is in Manila and you know where I am, so I doubt if I get to see him.
