Dear folk’s:
Well I have a few minutes So I thought I would drop you a few lines, I was glad I got to talk to you this afternoon, I couldn’t understand mom very well but I could hear Dad very plainly. We were at the day room and there was a lot of noise there. I think both Bob & I were homesick after we called because it made us think of home. I would give anything to be there now, but I still have 9 week’s of basic left and then I don’t know whether I will get home or not, but I sure hope I do. Dad I want you to buy me a $50.00 war bond
[2]
as I have enough money in the bank and I might as well try to help Uncle Sam a little more so take out whatever a $50 bond would cost and buy me one, and the next time I get some money I will send it home for furlough money, and I will Dad ask Charlie Knoll what a round trip ticket will cost, with service rates so I will know how much I need as I want to put all my extra money in bonds. Well I must close for now, write soon and take care of yourself.
I am sending this check, put it in the bank for me, as I can’t get it cashed here.
“Love Kenney”
Mom:
Here are my insurance and bond papers. Do not lose them or I you will not be able to collect any insurance, I had them in my bilfold [sic] and forgot about them so put them in a safe place.
Thank’s
Kenney
