Dear Mom & Dad:
Well I finally got away from Texas - & I am in Pennsylvania but I was ol only
suposse [sic] to be here for 3 days & then be shipped again, you see this place is a headquarters for Medics & then we are shipped from here again. But there was a guy on the train & he came down with Chicken Pox so they quarintined us here for 14 days so you can write a few letters anyway. [scratched out letter]

to do about X Mas I haven’t had the chance to even buy any Christmas Cards, at Barkeley we were restricted to the Company Area because we were to be shipped out, so they wouldn’t let us go to town, so you can see just why I couldn’t do any shopping & I thought I would do some shopping here & look what happened I am quarintined to the barracks- Mom if you have anything bought for me for christmas to wear please don’t send it as we cannot have any civilian clothes, not even socks or

or neckties – handkerchies [sic] – shorts, underware – everything from now on – is all Government issue – the only thing I can wear is jewelry & they may not let us have that – so I am going to send all of my stuff home as soon as they tell us to.
This camp is Camp Reynolds & it is a nice place – we go to chow & we can have what we want to eat – al we just

take what we want – and all we can eat, we have barracks instead of huts & double deck beds all in all this place is heaven compaired to Camp Barkeley – Mom please send me Bob’s address – as I want to write to him. I am going to have a White
Christmas it has snowed ever since we got here. – You can send me eats but not many – by all means don’t send any clothing at all – because I can’t use it. [three words scratched out] Well I will close for now wishing you all a very Merry X Mas & a Happy New Year.
