To: Folks 1943_7_29 From: Kenney [3 page letter] Date: 7-29-1943 7-29-43 Dear folk’s, Well got another letter from you today, if I get to see bob I will let him read it, as yet I haven’t received any money or a package, but I hope it gets here soon, we went on our first hike today, boy did my feet ever get hot, but I feel ok. now we have another one tomorrow only it is a six mile hike. If you haven’t been able to find a radio let it go because it would be hard to carry around with me when I leave here, I got a carton of cigarettes from Larry today, and a letter last night. Have you made my connections with our Local Red Cross, if you haven’t it would be a good idea 2 to do it as soon as you can, just in case, I was sworn in today for my allotment, I have already told you what to do about my money they will send, if you need any of it go ahead and use it but keep enough out for my furlough If I should happen to get one the best way to send money to Bob & I is by a postal check and you can cash them here in camp but any other way you have to go to town and I don’t want to get your money. I hope I can get that money deal straightened out so I can send some and have it put in the Bank. Tell Bob Dawson to write me give him my address, also send me Dean K. address 3 and anyone else that I used to know. D I have to write Mr. Hogue to get the paper or can you get them for me. I will try to see Bob Sunday but I think I have K.P. all day and day of K.P. last for 17 hours, and you really have to work. I have had it twice already, and I was room orderly once. Well I think I had better go take a shower & go to bed it is getting late it is almost 9:00 I will write whenever I can so you keep on writing, tell everyone hello, & to write, also tell Dad to get a new “car” so long, Love “Kenney”
