Title:
Kenneth Dole to Folks and All
Date:

Description:
To: Folks & All 1943_1_7 From: Kenney Dole [4 page letter] Date: 1-7-1943 Excuse the stationary. 1-7-43 [questionable date, probably 1944] Dear Folks & All: Just a few lines to let you know how I am coming along. We have moved to our new company & from here we will be shipped out as to where I don’t know. The wheather [sic] here is really getting cold, it has snowed all day, and the north wind from the lakes really makes it chilly, it is a lot different from Texas. I received the letter today that mom wrote on the 17th of Dec. and as yet I have not heard anything about the packages, Page 2 we are suppose to be her [sic] for three weeks, but we are subject to be shipped at any time so I can’t say just how long I will be here, but keep on writing as my mail will follow me. I wrote a letter to Bob the other day, I should hear from him soon. I almost forgot I received the money order also that mom sent it is just what I needed, thanks a million mom. About that allotment I still haven’t had it canceled Page 3 as $37.00 a month soon adds up, but if Dad wants me to drop it I will have it discontinued. We went over the infiltration course again today & also we went through the gas chamber to adjust our new gas masks, we were told to close our eyes & then go in the chamber & put on our masks—well, I made it ok until I fell down & forgot all about the tear gas & my eyes look as though “over” Page 4 I have been crying for a month but they feel better now. By the way I was recommended by a major today on the infiltration course, a fellow broke a finger, and as I was a medic, I fixed it for him so you see I have learned something well that’s about all the dope I can think of for now so I better close and see if I can get some sleep. Love, Kenney
