Plaque on a tree written in Italian and English; "On this site, theater of the atrocities of the second world war, Lieutenant ROBERT DOLE, member of the 10th Mountain Division was seriously wounded while fighting for the freedom of our town. The citizens of Castel d'Aiano, as a token of their eternal gratitude, dedicate this plaque in recognition of his valor and of the sacrifices of all the soldiers and civilians who fell fighting for freedom.
