Title:
Kenneth Dole to Bob and Mom
Date:
1945-09-27
Description:
To: Bob & Mom 1945_9_27 From: Kenney [3 page letter] Date: 9-27-1945 Phillipines [sic] Cebu, Cebu 9-27-45 Dear Bob & Mom: Haven’t a lot to say as there is no news, but want you to know that I am getting along OK, and feeling just fine hoping this finds you the same. Still no news about going home, but I sincerely believed and hope that very soon they do get something started around here and soon. I doubt if I will go to Japan at least for 2 months, as this Base is still open but it will be closed before long as there isn’t anything here for Page -2 us to do.= There are so many rumors around that I don’t know what to think, but it is still the best policy to just wait and see. I don’t like this place at all but I would rather stay here than go to japan [sic], as it would only mean packing up and moving again and the only boat ride I want to take is the one to the good old U.S.A., they say by the first of the year that all men with 2 yrs. Service will be sent home and discharged of course I hope they are right as it wo will make me elligible [sic] to go home. and [sic] this is just where I want to be and as soon as possible’ Page 3- I really do appreciate Dad sending me the home town paper as first class mail as it gets here in about 12 days and that is news to me. I sincerely hope that my walikes [sic] getshere [sic] before too long, and I think they will as soon as the transportation breaks loose from the occupation or Japan. Well I don’t have any more to say so for now I will say goodnight from here and hope that this short note finds Bob at home. So Long for Now Love Kenney
