Title:
Kenneth Dole to Folks

Description:
To: Folk’s 1944_3_10 From: Kenney [5 page letter] Date: 3-10-1944 3-10-44 Friday Dear Folk’s: I am very sorry I haven’t written to you any sooner, but I have just neglected to do so. I think about home all the time and I really wish I were there to see “pinky”, - I am really very sorry to hear that – Bob – didn’t get his furlough – but don’t feel to [sic] bad about it Mom – as you said he will not be going to school very6 much longer – so let’s look at the fact’s [sic], what will they do with him – probably the same thing they are doing to me, but it isn’t so bad – in fact [sic] if Page 2 he goes to a [cut out word] like I did in Pennsylvania and he goes to the Company Commander there, and explains that he has not had a furlough, since he has been in the Army he will get one, “15 days” I know because I was at a P.O.E. and they see to it that everyone get’s [sic] a furlough – if he hasn’t had one [crossed out word] up to the time he reaches there, well I suppose Gloria is a little disappointed [sic] but tell her not to worry because Bob will get a furlough – if he just keep’s [sic] on asking for one, if it were me I would -over- Page 3 [cut out word] move my bed into the headquarters and every time [sic] I had would get a chance to ask the C.O. I would- and he would finally give me a furlough. I am still getting along o.k. and I feel fine, I still don’t know [up arrow, the word “how” inserted] how long I will be here on the West Coast, but I guess they will let me know when it’s time to go. I still have my “stripes” but I don’t know yet whether or not I will get to keep them but I am doing my best, so all I can do is hope they decide to make it up let me keep them. Page 4 Mom you asked me about the Russell paper – I haven’t rec. any of them yet since I have left Penn. maybee [sic] they have my address wrong. By the way before I forget, I met another Russell Boy here today; I bet you can’t guess who he is – Oscar Wheatley – I was really surprised I met him in the P.X. so you can tell his mother at least I met him even if you can’t tell her where, well I guess I better close for now hoping to hear from you soon. Love Kenney “over” Page 5 Please write Bob as I have lost his address, and tell him that I asked Floyd – about Andrew Schropple, and he said he thought he could get him a recommendation without any trouble. You see Bob wanted an a recommendation for O.C.S. from Andy so please tell him to drop Floyd a line and he said he would fix it up for him. Kenney Please send me Bob’s Address as I have lost his.
