Title:
Kenneth Dole to Folks
Date:
1945-11-07
Description:
To: Folks 1945_11_7 From: Kenney [3 page letter] Date: 11-7-1945 Phillipines [sic] Cebu, Cebu Nov-7-45 Dear Folk’s: Have a few minutes so will drop you a few lines to let you know that I am getting along and feeling just fine, hoping this finds all of you the same. Received my first letter today for quite sometime, from Dad and was very glad to hear that so many of the boys are now getting out of the Service and especially Larry I bet it is quite a sensation to get away from it all and he a civilian again and I do hope that my time will soon be coming up, however it doesn’t look any better as they are still merely talking and not acting. =Page 2= I wasn’t so happy to hear that Bob was back in the Hospital and especially that he may be sent to Springfield MO. as it is further away from home and it will be more difficult for you to go see him, however I do hope that he has everything he wants and that someone from home is with him as often as possible, of course I know you are doing all you possibility can do for Bob, but I can’t help feeling so helpless, being so far away, but there isn’t anything that I can so except hope that I can soon get home. I had a good proposition today, the Maj. [sic] wanted me to take over the duties of the 1st/Sgt. but there was only thing that [sic] =Page 3= made me say “no” and that was the possibility that it might keep me over here longer; there is only one thing I want from this Army and that is a piece a Japer (discharge) I hope that you understand why I turned it down. Well I don’t have a lot more to say at the present time except I do hope something happens over here soon so some of the boys get home, which will put me closer I now have 55 pts. Please give my regards to all and I will let you hear from me soon. Love Kenney
