Title:
Bina Dole to Bob
Date:
1945-04-25
Description:
To: Bob 1945_4_25 From: Mom [2 page letter] Date: 4-25-1945 Russell Kansas 4-25-45- Dear Bob: Daddy & I just came back from sorting clothes again they seem to come in faster than they can sort them. Certainly will do a lot of people a lot of good. Well son I’m certainly hope-ing you are feeling better Bob. I’m wondering of course just how you are & how you fell. I can imagine thats [sic] a pretty sore spot & not knowing how bad the wound is I can’t even imagine, but I’m sure your going to be alrite [sic]- everyone I see inquires about you. Mrs. Hogue called me,- well son I’m hoping we’ll hear tomorrow. Daddy & I wew hoping you mite [sic] be where you can hear the war news, its [sic] sounds alrite, we received the letter your Champlain wrote today but we rather imagined you wrote the one you wrote last as air mail comes thru, much faster- They haven’t had any news from Chet for five [sic] weeks so they are quite concerned about him. I was also wondering where you mite be & if Eugene still mite [sic] find you some how. I mailed you the letter we had from Kenney last & also told you of N.J. being in school at Springfield Mo. Going to Western Union school studying to be an operator. I mailed you fudge cookies toll house cookies- & some date squares, & a small can of fruit cock. –tail. All I could put in- I also mailed the Russell Record & News- First Class Mail to you this afternoon. I sent Punch [sic] some of his toys & shoes & little silver cup I had his named engraved on it- he’s O.K. & plenty onery [sic].. [sic] Gloria was writing you rite away & sending you some snap shots-I’ll love some [2] too soon. A news flash just now says 24 hours more for Berlin to fall. [sic] lets Pray it does & that you get to come home to recuperate wouldn’t that be nice some one said if your wound took a long time to heal they mite send you back to the states we never know- but they sat everything happen’s for the best lets hope so, there are [sic] probably a lot of boys, who went out when you did who will never write home again, so I’m just hoping you get over this O.K. & are far more fortunate next time. We havent [sic] hear any more news of Bobby Jeanne. I guess Philips doing alrite, still working with his group of young boys. I guess this new boss is keeping the young boys from going over so soon- a good idea- The Big Three Conference is well under way & going along alrite- I really think they could do a lot more if this war would end in Europe before they finish their conference, it history in the making, & I think they all regret the absence of our late President-. I really think he had a way of getting along with Russia & sometimes I think it was his greatest undertaking & more than anything else we need him at this conference but thats [sic] not to be so maybe they’ll get on somehow- Well son here are a few lines, not much interest but I really don’t know any news to write. I like writing to you as it seems for a little while at least I’m being with you, but news are [sic] scare & I’m rather a poor letter writer but it lets you know we are all well here, thinking of you & Praying for you- hope you are not too lonely & that your getting your mail regularly, so be good & don’t worry- write when your able or have some one write for you Thank your Champlain for me. I should write him & will try- but I have N.J. & Kenney & Gloria family so really I’ve a list now. Good nite & Good Luck. Hope this finds you feeling swell— Love Mom.
