Title:
Kenneth Dole to Folks
Date:
1943-09-28
Description:
To: Folks 1943_9_28 From: Kenney [3 page letter] Date: 9-28-1943 [Camp Barkeley Logo] 9-28-43 Dear folk’s: Well I finally found a few minutes to drop you a line. I had room Orderly again today & I was fireman for the boiler all I had to do was build a fire & keep it going all day so I really had an easy day. I remember in your last letter you said Donna was married, well don’t I knew it before it happened so don’t worrie [sic] about me, as I am getting over it. You see I haven’t written to her for about 6 week’s ‘over’ Page 2 You also said something about coming down, I don’t know what to say, except it is up to you. Bob said he would tell you about it. We get paid the 30 [sic] or the 1st so you should get a check & maybe my bond, unless the bond will come the first of November. Our Basic the way it is now should be over the 16th of Nov. then we may get a furlough so we might make it when Larry & the girls get there, but I sure hope I get to see them, maybe they can come earlier than they planned. My basic is getting a little easier every day we are about through with our classes and about the only thing we do any more is, take hikes. [Camp Barkeley Logo] Page 3 and wrap bandages & carry litters as “strechers”- after this week we have seven weeks left and three of these will be biviwack bivovac [sic], which shouldn’t be very tough, the toughest thing we have left is the infiltration course, Bob has taken it this week & I have it next week. Well be good & take care of things I will try to write more later. We got your last box Kenney On a Saturday night. 6:00
