Title:
Kenneth Dole to Folks and All
Date:
1945-06-29
Description:
To: Folks and All 1945_6_29 From: Kenney [2 page letter] Date: 6-29-1945 June-29-45 Dear Folk’s & All: Hope you have received my last letter by now, I am still in QM. but still hoping to get out someway if at all possible, I can’t really get over this place it is real civilization, even though what is left of it is not much you can tell it must have really been a swell place at one time, I still can’t get over the people wearing real civilian cloths, after being in N. Guiena for so long without seeing anything I almost forgot what it was like [sic] There are a few vegetables here but not very plentiful, hope they will be more as it goes along Page-2 I still have some flower seeds, and I intend to plant them just as soon as we can get settled in one spot. There is a new deal out now where you can apply for Temporary Duty “T.D” for 45 days at home providing you have 18 months overseas; then when the 45 days are up you must return back over here. I will have 18 mo. by August 20, 45 and I doubt very much whether I will take T.D. or not as I know I do not want to come back over here for another year or two- even though I would give my right arm to come home for one day, I hate to think of coming back over here again. over [back of page 2] I do hope that everyone has had a chance to see Bob, and that he is getting along OK, by now, please give him my best wishes and also that I am praying that he can get home soon. Please let me know where Larry & Gloria move t [sic] so I can drop them a line or two now and then. Well I can’t think of any more to write about at the present so I will close for now hoping to hear from all of you soon, so long for now. Love, Kenney
