To: Mom & Dad 1945_5_1 From: Kenney [3 page letter] Date: 5-1-1945 May-1, 45 Still New Guiena Dear Mom & Dad: Well here I am still waiting to get on the boat & don’t have any idea as to when it will be, but hope that I will soon be leaving, I am getting over anxious just sitting around, expecting at any moment to hear them say – OK lets go. I gave you my new address in one of my last letters and I am sorry to inform you that it was incorrect and I still have to use A.P.O. 565- Hq. Co. Base G. The only reason I can think of for changing it again is that the place we were going hasn’t been taken yet or the orders have been held up anyhow I cannot have my mail sent to A.P.O 718 as it hasn’t been officially – published by the Curror [sic]. Haven’t heard from Bob for sometime but have been doing my best to follow the 5th/Army- it sounded very good today Page-2- And by the time this reaches you I do hope and will pray that it is over, so keep your fingers crossed as the great day isn’t very far in the future. Haven’t had a letter from Norma since the 6th/ of April and I do hope that she is not ill, however I don’t blame her for not writing to me as I just don’t ever answer her letters, but I really do enjoy hearing from her and anyone- I read all my letters three times and then save them, and when I don’t get a letter I just read my old ones over again and hope that tomorrow will find more waiting for me. Haven’t had a package for quite sometime the last being the horseshoes. Well I guess I had better bring this to a close and get me laundry out so long for now & keep on writting [sic].
