I got your package yesterday, Bob was here when and we opened it together, I want to thank you mom, everything was really swell, if you see Ethel don’t forget to tell her about the peaches she sent me. My watch is keeping perfect time so far I think it will run ok. if you want to send me something for my birthday and it won’t be too much mail bother send me a little money as I can always fin use it . Us guys go to the P-X- about every night after chow, we can get pop, ice cream Page 2 and candy, hair oil & odds and ends, it takes quite a bit of money in the army if you want to do anything at all, we have been going swimming & to the show, I just have to do something, or I really get homesick. I think Bob is homesick just like I am but he won’t admit it to me. When I get my Radio I will let bob use it as a boy in our hut has one now. We are going to go on a 16 miler [16 and miler are circled] at 5:30 [5:30 is circled] tomorrow morning . I hope it doesn’t get as hot as it was today, I we have to make it in 4 hours. Well I guess I had better go to bed and get some rest it is 15 till 8 and I am almost ready to go to bed. Melv. is going to mail this for me Page 3 I am sending a picture soon of our company “D” I am on the top row at the right Melvin Voos didn’t get in the picture as he was on K.P. and they didn’t call him out, well so long for now.
